Why use this
Students measure a plant a different way each day, from the pot rim one day and the soil the next, so the graph jumps about. One drawn procedure removes that.
A line graph drawn from the student's own table means more than a printed one. The axes are ready, so the effort goes into plotting.
How to run it
- 1.Show the measure step: ruler upright on the soil, read at the tallest tip. Everyone measures one plant and compares.8 min
- 2.Predict on Sheet A. How tall in ten days? Why?4 min
- 3.Each day: measure, record, note water and light.2 min
- 4.Day 11: plot the ten points and join them. Compare graphs across pairs.10 min
- 5.Day 11: conclusion with the numbers from the table.6 min
